Dear Friend of The Recreation Project,

What skills would help you thrive anywhere in the world?

During a recent stakeholder engagement meeting hosted by The Recreation Project, government education officials, school leaders, Parents/Adult caregivers, and development partners were asked this simple question. The answers came quickly: communication, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership, confidence, resilience, and creativity.

Interestingly, these are the very skills our Mighty Life Skills Programme develops through transformative play to bring out those competencies.

We're excited to share that Christ the King Demonstration Primary School has once again joined the programme this term! More than 119 Primary Six pupils, over 70% of them girls, are now participating in weekly life skills sessions designed to help them grow into confident, capable, and compassionate young leaders.

The school's participation came following recommendations from education stakeholders, including the Gulu City Education Officer, who highlighted the importance of ensuring Christ the King pupils benefit from this unique learning opportunity.

Today marks the third week of the programme, and the energy is incredible. Through games, challenges, teamwork, reflection, and experiential learning, young people are not just playing. They are developing the skills they need to navigate school, relationships, future careers, and life itself. And none of this would be possible without you.

Again, The Recreation Project believes that every young person deserves access to transformative play and life skills learning, not just today, but for years to come. That is why we are taking a bold step toward sustainability by establishing a dedicated Play Centre featuring a high and low ropes course valued at USD 10,000. This facility will provide a permanent space where thousands of young people can continue to learn. If you would like to learn more or be part of this journey, please contact Denish, the Executive Director, at denish@therecreationproject.org, or Seth Kent, our board chair, at seth@alrightx2.com, or you can also donate directly here

With gratitude,

Denish Acellam

Executive Director
